STANDING OUT DURING CYBER WEEK
Mercari, “The Selling App,” is a digital marketplace that wanted to run a series of small campaigns to promote buying and selling over Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. But I figured it was a great opportunity to keep our audience engaged with one big, comprehensive concept with a distinct feel.
INVENTING A HOLIDAY
If Black Friday and Cyber Monday were invented to promote buying, why couldn’t we invent a selling holiday for Mercari? I proposed the idea of “Sell-Your-Shit-Sunday,” our own made-up holiday to not only mock the made-up buying holidays, but also educate and inform customers that Cyber Week is an ideal time to sell.
